This apartment is situated the classified building ‘De Zonnewijzer’, by the late Belgian architect Leon Stynen. The brutalist building was constructed around 1955. In the 80’s, specific unit was converted from an apartment into a doctor’s office. The kitchen was removed and some of the wooden wallcoverings were overpainted, but the overall layout had been kept. The goal of the renovation was to maintain the vintage/modernist spirit, while making it livable again. We tried to restore as much of the original elements as possible, like the woodwork and stunning herringbone floors. Only in the kitchen area we had to re-do the layout completely to meet modern standards.
